Waking from a Trance

As if waking from a trance,
I opened my sleepy eyes,
and found you there,
sleeping as though cradled
by the silver crescent moon.
The blue glow of nighttime darkness
played upon your skin
and sheathed you in beauty
as I had never seen.
My bare skin shivered
with the brush of your warm, sleepy breath,
and I exhaled my very soul
at an unconscious caress
of your hands down my spine.
Careful not to wake your perfect slumber,
my fingers roamed the sculted shape of your face
and the soft, kissable slope that is your neck.
Ever slightly, I touch your parted lips
with an airy kiss.
But as your eyes flutter open,
they bring forth the light
that draws me away,
and wakes me sadly
from my own perfect slumber...
