FeedBurner, what did I ever do to you?

Let’s see now.

Two days ago, my blog had a healthy subscriber count of 1,119. Not bad.

Yesterday, it fell to 894. Not great, but it might go up again.

Today, things got bad. Really bad.

Disappearing FeedBurner subscribers

I now have 151 subscribers. So, you like the new blog then?!

Where the hell did everybody go?

(Yeah, I know, FeedBurner can have glitches from time to time – but this is by far the biggest drop I’ve ever seen. Maybe this is actually the real number of subscribers I have…)

I would just like to humiliate myself by saying that I originally wrote “a healthy subscriber count of 1,1119″. It should have been 1,119. At least the thousands separator was in the right place – but going from 11k to just 151 subscribers would’ve been a bit more of a shock.

Commenting on my own posts. First sign of madness. Of course, the second sign of madness would be replying to myself. Not going to do it … no sir … no … hmm … then again …

I’ve had very similar problems with FeedBurner recently. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially if you have a badge telling people your subscriber count!

If I could afford to move over to MailChimp, I certainly would.

My feedburner numbers fluctuate wildly from day to day, and I don’t have a lot to begin with. I think I read somewhere that it has to do with how many people read a subscribed post – so if you publish a post but Google reader isn’t working properly or people are just too busy to read their feeds, then that day you don’t have a lot of subscribers. I think that’s how it went, but then again I don’t understand a lot of the techno-babble.

  4. My subscriber count just halved last week and stayed there – very odd!!
