Hey, why is my PageRank minus 3?

I just went to check the PageRank of my homepage.

Look what I found.

PageRank: minus threeYes, underneath the rank it does say “the page rank value is 3″ but the little hyphen did worry me a bit.

  1. My PR bar for Google doesn’t show this blog having any rank. That seems very strange, for sure.

They could have done without the hyphen. Actually, my eyes went right to the red circle in your screenshot and read it as negative three-tenths. I had to read your post a few times before I got it.

That’s what I get for staying up too late. It’s after 10pm here and I’m supposed to be at work at 7am.

BTW, that site says my page rank is 4 (or negative four-tenths if my fatigued mind is to be believed). Is that good? I have to admit I have no idea what all the different rankings mean.

Very interesting title. They could have omitted the hyphen there. I am not much familiar with their site because I use browser extensions to check ranks and statistics.
Btw, my Chrome extension bar shows your site has a PR of 3, so it’s confirmed.

    Catchy Title.

    ahhh that’s are hyphens !!

Anyways, i’m using firfox extensions to check
    my rankings.

    Thanks. Have a great day.

Carol – maybe the toolbar is broken.

    Kirsten – it’s good!

Sourav – thanks for the confirmation. I can confirm that I have read your comment ;)

    Devesh – thanks :)

Mine says PR 4 these days. But, I don’t take it very seriously as a way to value the blog. All those rating and ranking things seem to wobble all over the place. None of them seem stable or reliable to me. I think you could judge a blog on the amount of comment spam it gets and that would be more reliable than PageRank or Alexis, etc.
