Too many Facebook notifications?

On Facebook, sometimes it’s handy to see that someone replied to something you commented on. A bit like subscribing to blog comments.

However, there’s a bit of a problem: no unsubscribe. At least not for individual posts.

This gets ten times worse when you realise that it also happens to anything you “like”. So, all those lovely “like” buttons that keep popping up across the web are now happily telling you that a zillion other people like them too. Yay.

And if you’ve ever tried to “like” something on a Facebook Page – you know, the ones that provide info about TV shows, bands and the like… well, you may as well start ignoring your notifications from then on.

It makes me “like” things a lot less often than I would if I could choose which posts should notify me, and which ones shouldn’t.

I use the “like” button very sparingly. I’ve also noticed that lately, if there are zillions of comments to a post that I like or comment on, I’ll only receive notifications on the next 5 comments, then after that, nothing. I don’t know if this is a settings thing or a FB fluke thing, but I kinda like it that way.

I agree, there are too many facebook notification. In some ways, I think that Facebook is getting too powerful!
