< The ultimate beginner's guide? : Weekly round-up #4 - Winding down, winding back up again >
Thanks to Easter, we're currently on a four day weekend, so we don't have to do our day jobs. But we're not lazing around - we've taken the opportunity to release some pretty huge changes over at Injader. In summary, we now have a free version of Majestic, which won't expire. The premium version does more. We think this is the best of both worlds, as some people won't want to pay for a system, whereas others will be happy to pay for additional features.
You can read the full announcement here:
Majestic 1.5 - Basic and Premium versions now available
Previously, you had to wait for us to send you a licence file before you could take the free trial a spin. You'd still have a full 30 days for the trial, but this was an unnecessary step. We've removed the manual effort here - all you need to do is register, log in, and download the software. There's a licence file to download too, but this will work on all sites.
In the free version, we've added a PayPal button to the Admin Control Panel so you can upgrade to premium quickly and easily. The Injader Store was an unnecessary overhead and just complicated the whole process.
So, now that we've broken down a lot of barriers, made the whole process easier and - of course - provided a free version... is Majestic now a serious competitor to the other blogging systems out there? Time will tell!

Hi, ettarose. :) Nvu and Kompozer are editors where you would edit a page on your computer and then transfer it to your site. This is not the best approach now that you can create and edit content using just your web browser (as you do on Blogger, for example).
With Majestic, you don't have to know how to code. I can get a simple template made for you that you can put into Majestic without even seeing the code, and you can certainly post content without needing to understand code.
I read on your blog that you want to go with your own domain regardless of the system you use. I'd strongly recommend Hostgator for web hosting if you don't already have a web host lined up. GoDaddy is good for domain names.
There are a few things to think about but I can help you understand the bits you don't know yet. If you have a look in my Tutorials section, you'll see a section called The basics of running a site. This may help with things like getting a domain and web hosting.
Let me know if you need any more help! :)
As usual you are a big help. I will read your tutorials because I enjoy what you write about. Someone also suggested Bluehost and Holdfire. I agree with you on posting every day or not and I also agree that blogging does take a lot of time. I thought maybe it was something I was doing wrong. I just can't keep up with it all. I do need to prioritize my daily blog time. Oh and thanks for stopping by my blog. I really appreciate it.
p.s. I am now going to uninstall both editors. With you in my corner I can see I won't need them :)
Thanks, ettarose - glad I could help. Hope the tutorials are helpful, too. Send me a message before you buy hosting as I have a possible deal for you - maybe you read about it before. :)

Hey Ben, I am looking for a site to set up my domain. I looked at majestic, but I have a problem. I have downloaded nvu and then KompoZer which are WYSIWYG editors. I have had a problem understanding some things on these and the forums suck. Do I have to know how to code to use majestic? You would think with the vast amount of knowledge out there someone could just post a picture by picture guide on using any kind of editor. Or maybe I am just too dense to figure it out.
