< Monthly round-up - March 2008 : Weekly round-up - April 2008, part 3 >
This week I realised the benefit of not posting on Saturdays. I can work on other things or actually have a break from the Internet for some of the weekend. In the end, I did both. I've spent some time working on Majestic and I spent a lot less time online than usual.Highlights from my blog
- 5 ways to boost reader interaction on your site got loads of comments.
- I experimented with a new type of post, resulting in a good discussion: Are automated notes impersonal?
- I wrote part 4 of my Google Analytics guide - all of these posts can be found under Site Statistics.
- I also tried a subscriber-only post.
Highlights from other blogs
- Biggest decisions bloggers must make (Blog Tipz) - Lots of things that bloggers have to consider throughout their blog's life. A very detailed post that's very interesting to read. How many have you considered already? Are there any that you need help with? Reply below with your thoughts.
- On Twitter, IRC and Chat Rooms (Zo'C) - Twitter is a site where you can post short messages and read messages from other people. I recently joined Twitter simply to try it out and see if it's a tool I want to use in the future. (If you're on Twitter, my username is benbarden.) This post is an excellent comparison between Twitter and the chat rooms of old, "IRC" referring to "Internet Relay Chat" - a service I used to use when I first got online in 1998.
- Forced to mingle (Polymath Programmer) - Though I enjoy reading this site, it's not the kind of site I would normally link to, because it's aimed at a very technical audience - programmers. This post is interesting though. As I doubt there are many programmers - if any - reading my site, you can replace the question in the closing paragraph with something different: Has software ever put you in an uncomfortable situation? Post about it below.
Majestic News
This week we released Majestic 1.5.3. At the weekend I wrote a script that will migrate a WordPress site to Majestic. It needs some fine tuning and needs additional testing, but this is a pretty huge step forward for Injader. How was your week?

Ben, I have not done a weeklt round up. I am looking at getting Majestic. I need to know a little more about the cost and I need a host. One more thing. I left a comment on your stumble article. Tell me what you think.
Laura - I think most bloggers face periods when it's hard to think of what to write. By the way, I like the way you include hand-drawn images in your posts. :)
ettarose - I've just replied to your comment on the StumbleUpon post. I did see it but didn't have a chance to reply until now. Sorry for the delay. As for Majestic, thanks for looking into it. :) The Basic version is free, while the Premium version is US$59. There are no other costs and the Premium version is an optional upgrade; you can still do plenty with the Basic version. Let me know if you have any queries.
Thanks for the comments! :)
I feel like I've been scrambling to keep ahead of my own projects this week, but the extra brain-power went to my clients - so that's probably a good trade-off. ;) And your work on that script to migrate from WordPress to Majestic gets me much closer to the next phase for Domestik Goddess. On balance, it feels like it was a very productive week after all!
Thanks for the comment, Jen. :) I've been making a few more tweaks this evening - I'll email you with the details soon.

I got lazy/ tired and just posted 2 rounds of personality quizes to make up for days I would have missed posting anything. Cheap and I don't really like using them but everyone needs a cheat now and then if they are sticking to daily posting. Blogger has a new feature in draft which lets you schedule posts. This is good but doesn't really work for me on those days I'm too tired after work to come up with a post. My best posts are spur of the moment, without any plan at all. Can't really leave those idling in scheduled posts. That just doesn't seem right. Anyway, today I have to make up for my cheats and post something real. At least I have the whole day to do it. I had lots of ideas when I was letting myself sleep in and when I was walking home from the bus after work last night. Now, I'm sitting here and my brain is just "uh?". :) Happy Sunday.
