Can't see the wood for the trees? Stand back!

We're often faced with the problem of information overload. Too much incoming information, not enough time to sort through it. Things get even worse if you actually try to find something, especially anything that might result in someone being compensated financially (e.g. which web host should I use).

If there's too much information for you to manage, don't just plough ahead regardless. Take a step back and get organised. How? Try reading my guide, The Organised Approach to Websites. This is a five-part series that you may find useful. As it hasn't had much exposure in the past, I've decided to bring it up again.

You may also be interested to read another post, Take some time out to reflect, which I wrote back in January while on a break from blogging. Sometimes, taking a break is really needed.

How do you stay organised?

I love this guide. It's grat for beginners, like me, who seem to get lost in the whirlwind of it all. Thanks for getting us organized!

i think most new bloggers soon realise that the easiest thing to do as a blogger is promotion. Writing great stuff is too difficult. great post ben.

I hear people solve this by skipping RSS items in their feed reader a lot...

@Alfred - creating original content is hard. Which might explain why new bloggers "report" instead. Copying and pasting (and hopefully adding a little thought) takes less time and effort.

I think information overload is my biggest hindrance right now, in blogging, as in life. No matter how much I try to sort things out, I always find myself with a lot more than I can actually handle.

Coffee sometimes does the trick, so does lots of sleepless nights.......

I'm not as organised as I would like when it comes to blogging, but that's only because I'm trying to keep it as casual as possible. I don't want it to feel like work or I might not like it anymore. Now, you should see how organised my room is!!

Powerful image Ben :)
