< Is it ever OK to leave a comment saying Nice post? : Post a comment, get a comment >
Most of my recent posts have had at least one comment along with a reply from me. However, there are still quite a few posts on my blog with no comments whatsoever. How do I know this?
I have gone through my blog and made a list of every blog entry, the date I posted it, and how many comments it received. I used Microsoft Excel to make this easier. I also use the same chart to plan my future blog entries - I write the title beside each date.I can see that so far in January, three of my blog entries have no comments.
What can you do?
It's simple really. Linking to previous blog entries is a good way to get new readers looking at some of your older content, but without a list of blog entries you may keep linking to the same posts and some may never get linked. All you have to do is link to the blog entries that have no comments. Don't just post loads of links and ask people to comment on them - write a relevant blog entry and link to a few of the posts that have no comments. Or, group a few links together so they can be used as a convenient "step by step" tutorial.
Site subscription tips
I have a few blog entries relating to subscribing to a site that haven't had comments yet. If you're new to my blog then perhaps you'd be interested in the following posts:- What is RSS and why should you care?

Comments
Thanks for the comment narendra. I do get quite a few comments though. I'm just suggesting some ways to get comments on the blog entries that haven't had any so far.
I have tried linking to some old posts, but overall I have not had an increase in comments. Although many of my old posts were not the best for encouraging people to write. So with some changes in style I am at least having better success with recent posts.
Thanks for the comment Chris. :) At least you managed to get some comments with a change in style.
I was thinking that if someone writes a few really good posts before people actually know about their blog, they might be able to get comments by linking to those posts in future entries.
We should always be writing new posts so hopefully there shouldn't be a comment drought.
same problem 2 me :( i too have poor comments
